Generally every car has tyres and wheels. They are the only components that have direct contact with the ground, thus it greatly affects the driving performance, noise and riding comfort. Tyres are made of rubber and normally is in black which covers the wheels that made of steel or alloy such as aluminum, magnesium and so on. Prices vary for those. For beginners, there are some 'codes' written on the tyres and wheel that you might don't know what it means. Below is the guide.

Wheel
The figure above is a wheel or also known as rim on its view without a tyre. The code will normally been partitioned together with the wheel. You will saw something like:

5½ J x 13

A = the diameter of the rim, which is 13 in inches
B = the width of the rim, which is 5½ in inches
*The J symbolizes the shape of the edge of the rim which also known as flange.

Tyre
The above figure is a common view of a tyre and with the 'codes' on it. Most beginners do not know what it means. By using the above example:

205/55 R16 S
A = the width of a tyre, which it is 205 in millimeter
B = the profile of the tyre, which is 55% of the tyre width
C = the diameter of the wheel or rim, which is 16 inches

*The R has nothing to do with the wheel or tyre size, it means Radius which is the radius of the wheel.
*The S stands for a certain limit of speed that the tyre can withstand. In this example is S.

S = up to 180 km/h
H = up to 210 km/h
V = faster than 210 km/h
